Long stays, nursing and care homes in Tunisia
Silver Resorts offers two types of luxury care home in Tunisia. The first is medicalised - a nursing home, mainly for dependent or less independent residents, though it can also welcome active seniors. The second is non-medicalised (a retirement home), designed for independent, self-sufficient residents. A single luxury residence in Tunisia can therefore combine both a medicalised and a non-medicalised service.
Our nursing homes in Tunisia
Our nursing homes in Tunisia welcome residents for short-term stays or on a permanent (long-stay) basis. With a ratio of one carer per resident, they deliver an impeccable standard of care. The medical teams include a doctor, nurses and care assistants. A paramedical team - including a physiotherapist and a nutritionist - meets any additional needs. We also work with specialists who can step in quickly, such as neurologists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists and dentists. Our nursing homes have signed agreements with private clinics so residents can be treated promptly should a serious problem require hospitalisation.
At these nursing homes, Silver Resorts provides a premium, all-inclusive service covering accommodation, support and care, with one care assistant per resident, at an attractive price.
Our non-medicalised care homes (retirement homes)
Our retirement home in Tunisia is the ideal way to help older people stay socially connected and avoid isolation. It welcomes seniors for short-term or permanent (long-term) stays. We run many daily activities led by activity coordinators trained in supporting older people, and serve healthy, balanced meals prepared by our chefs and designed by our nutritionists.
Activities include outings and walks, swimming, board games, competitions and yoga or pilates sessions. Should the need arise, an on-site team of nurses and care assistants is available.
Our non-medicalised senior accommodation is available across all our residences.
Other services
Hotel-style services
In our premium care homes, every room and suite has a sea, garden or pool view. Walk-in showers adapted to residents’ needs are fitted in each room to reduce the risk of accidents at home.
All meals are provided (breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and dinner), served at the table in the restaurant or, if needed, in the room. A free laundry service is included within our residences, and a security team provides round-the-clock surveillance, 24/7.

Why retire in Tunisia
Landscapes and activities
Tunisia offers beautiful beaches, mountains, palm groves and stunning oases at the gateway to the Sahara, along with remarkable archaeological sites that trace thousands of years of history. There is plenty to do, too: golf courses, hiking trails and a wide range of water sports. Sporting facilities have expanded considerably over the past two decades, with modern indoor venues and sports complexes across the country.

A much lower cost of living
Day-to-day life in Tunisia is far cheaper than in the UK - from everyday expenses and eating out to personal care. This makes a genuinely premium standard of care much more affordable than an equivalent residence back home.
Close to the UK
Tunisia is one of the closest North African destinations to Europe. Tunis is roughly a 3-hour direct flight from London, so family and friends can visit easily and affordably.
English where it matters
Tunisia is a French and Arabic-speaking country, but English is widely understood in tourist areas, in the private clinics we work with, and among our staff - so you can settle in with confidence.
A high standard of private healthcare
Tunisia has a strong network of modern, well-equipped private clinics offering a wide range of specialist care - so much so that it has become a destination for medical tourism. Our residences work hand in hand with these clinics.
Tax and pension: take advice first
Retiring abroad can affect how your pension and taxes are handled, and the rules differ from one country to another. For your UK pension and tax position, we recommend speaking to a UK-based tax and financial adviser before you move. On the Tunisian side, Silver Resorts can put you in touch with a Tunisian tax adviser who will explain the local rules and help you make the most of your situation. Our team is also on hand with the practical side of settling in and enjoying your retirement.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a nursing home and a retirement home in Tunisia?
A nursing home is medicalised: it welcomes dependent or less independent residents, with a medical team on site. A retirement home is non-medicalised and is designed for independent, active seniors.
What medical support does a nursing home in Tunisia provide?
Our nursing homes offer a ratio of one carer per resident. The team includes a doctor, nurses and care assistants, supported when needed by a physiotherapist and a nutritionist. Agreements with private clinics allow residents to be treated quickly if hospitalisation is required.
Can you stay short-term in a nursing home, or only long-term?
Both are possible: our residences welcome residents for short-term stays (from one month) as well as permanent, long-term stays.
What does an all-inclusive package at a premium care home in Tunisia include?
An all-inclusive service: accommodation in a room or suite (sea, garden or pool view), meals served at the table, care and support, a free laundry service, and round-the-clock security.
